We recently took a family holiday to Vancouver, BC and stayed at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, right in the heart of downtown. This castle in the city is within walking distance to many of Vancouver’s well-known districts including Gastown, Yaletown and the waterfront near Canada Place. Stanley Park is also a short walk away, though with the vast amount of walking trails within the park, it is wise to conserve your energy and drive to the park. No matter how many times we visit Vancouver, Stanley Park is always a favourite. Each season adds its own touch of beauty to the park, and a visit in November did not disappoint.
Our reason for travelling to Vancouver this time of year was to visit the Capilano Suspension BridgePark for their annual Canyon Lights unveiling, where the park is fully decorated in beautiful sparkling lights. Located in North Vancouver, the bridge is a quick drive over Lions Gate Bridge, or a free shuttle serviceis also available. The Canyon Lights did not disappoint and was definitely a highlight of our trip!
After each day’s excursion, we happily retreated back to the comfort of our room, a junior suite which allowed a little more space to accommodate the kids. Our room was so cozy that we opted to enjoy room service a couple of times to take advantage of the space and enjoy dinner in the most relaxed manner possible. Though we did make sure we visit Notch8each morning to enjoy the hearty breakfast buffet that is available daily.
A favourite for Sydney was the Winter Wonderland Afternoon Tea, which she enjoyed as a daddy-daughter afternoon. Enjoying her own pot of berry flavoured tea, along with finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats, it made for the perfect tea party.
Our only regret during our visit is how quickly the time goes, and with a City with so much to offer, there is still much on our to do list for our next visit.
