Osoyoos: Canada's Hidden Resort Gem

Canada is known for some of it’s iconic places (Lake Louise, Toronto and Whistler) but there are so many gems out there to discover. I spent a few days in Osoyoos British Columbia and I was blown away by what it has to offer. First there were points in time I felt like I was in Mexico. We sat beside the lake at a Cantina and enjoyed tacos. The music was electric, the atmosphere was alive and the summer heat was on! it did not feel like Canada. In fact, Osoyoos is the hottest place in Canada! I had to pause and remind myself of where I was.

I was also struck by the diverse landscape within such a small distance. Just a short drive from the Cantina we found ourselves in the desert which was reminiscent to something like Joshua Tree in California. Take a walk on Shaka Lake and see sunsets light up the sky like you have never seen before. Osoyoos is a magical place to visit and explore. You can view the pictures below and read up on some activities you can hit up while in Osoyoos BC.

Enjoy lunch over looking the stunning views at Nk'Imp Cellars and take a tour of the beautiful property.

As the first Aboriginal-owned winery in North America, you can see the culture expressed in everything they do. This Winery is a bold celebration and strong reflection of their commitment to authenticity and deep respect for their colourful past.

Located in the hottest and driest part of Canada, over 500 Osoyoos Band members secure and share a legacy of hard work and a passionate respect for nature. The word Nk’Mip translates to “Bottomland” in English, being located at the southern end of the Osoyoos reservation.

Located just outside the main center of Osoyoos is The Desert Society. The Osoyoos Desert Centre is a 67 acre nature interpretive facility where visitors can learn about desert ecology, habitat restoration and conservation of endangered ecosystems in the South Okanagan.

Guests are invited to explore Canada’s desert by taking a guided or self-guided tour along a 1.5 km elevated wooden boardwalk.
