Drive Highway 1 and Experience Big Sur

Highway 1 in California is the iconic road that recently celebrated 80 years of being open. Also referred to as the 'ALL AMERICAN ROAD", you can drive all the way from San Francisco to LA while along the coast and experience the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the views there are several stops along the way. Drive it in a day or take weeks to stop and enjoy all the beauty along the way!

The iconic highway reopened in late July after more than 18 months of roadway closures, which resulted in tremendous economic losses for businesses along the iconic corridor, especially in northern San Luis Obispo County as travelers rerouted their trips en masse.

Upon it’s reopening and to celebrate Visit California arranged the DREAM DRIVE Down Highway 1 and we did it in style. Imagine experiencing this bucket list drive road in antique cars. They rounded up 80 cars ( one to represent each year) and together we hit the road. I got to ride in Governor Jerry Brown's original Plymouth from 1974 and an Astin Martin! Check out some of the cars below.

If you are planning to do your own dream drive here are some things you need to know about Highway 1.

ANOTHER GREAT STOP ON HIGHWAY 1 -MORRO BAY

Morro Rock is truly a stunning sight to see located in Morro Bay. This massive rocks stands tall on the beach and is a great place for Sunset. Morro Bay is South of Big Sur on route to LA. Visit California hosted us for a wrap up party on the beach and of course I had to grab a photo of the Ferrari.

Make sure to plan your trip to drive Highway 1 now that it has reopened. Give yourself lots of time to enjoy all the views and stops along the way!
